Let's Dream BIG....

When your a little girl, you're told you can be anything you want to be. Years ago many little girls might have said they wanted to be princess, a mermaid, or even Beyonce, but now days more girls are wanting to become the president. Why not dream big? With society changing everyday, the election for a female president is right around the corner. I believe legislation should properly represent the diversity of our nation. Currently women make up almost 51% of the United States population. According to the Huffington Post, women only comprise 18% of the House of Representatives body and 20% in the U.S Senate.  In my opinion these numbers are way too low, women should have 50% of the House of Representatives and U.S Senate body. Unfortunately it might be a few more years or even a decade before we see these numbers raise.  Currently only 4% of CEO’s of fortune 500 companies are females. I believe these numbers prove that many people are still afraid of women running our country and businesses.

Ladies don’t let these statistics scary you, as many people might not know but females are attending college and grad school at a much higher rate than males. We are becoming more smarter and educated than ever before. So women if you want to serve in the House of Representatives, the U.S senate, or even run for president, then go for it. I believe many people are afraid to let a female president into office. Don’t allow anyone to determine your destiny its truly up to you.

  1. Love your post Lexi. I am actually going to RUN and WIN a seat in the Senate, in 2017/2018. That has always been my dream and I am doing everything necessary to fulfill it. Currently, I am a registered mediator for the State of Georgia and I am clearing my path to become a Senator from the Peach State, who happens to be a wife, a mother of 3, educated, fearless, determined, driven, dedicated, committed to the least of these, a voice for the voiceless, a woman of integrity, and.... African American

  2. I really like your post Lexi, it's great to encourage all children to dream big and reach towards their goals. I believe that women do have a bit of a ways to go before we have a female president, but that should not deter a strong, professional woman from working towards that goal. Although she may not make it, she can pave the way for a future generation to achieve the ultimate goal.

  3. I agree with your beliefs. One of the strongest, amazing, and intelligent perspon I know regardless of sex is my mother. She has went through a lot of adversity throughout her life but she has made it through it all. She now has a doctorate and takes pride in her job of being an educator.

She is extremely amazing and I know she can do anything that she puts her mind to. Being raised by a woman like her I truly appreciate strong women, and I am a strong believer in the power of women. Having a woman in any position does not intimidate me one bit and I hope to see more women in power.
